Slat Panel Ceiling Feature & TV Wall: A Custom Transformation in Sarasota
When the homeowners in Sarasota reached out, they had a living room with great bones, high ceilings, sliding glass doors opening to a pool area, and beautiful wood-look LVP flooring throughout. What was missing was a design focal point. Something that would give the space a custom, intentional feel. That's where the slat panel work came in.
The slatted ceiling inlay gives the tray ceiling real visual weight. No paint treatment can replicate this depth.
The completed slat panel tray ceiling inlay and TV wall in Sarasota, FL.
The project centered on two key installations: a wood slat panel inlay set within the existing recessed tray ceiling, and a coordinating slatted feature wall behind the television. The result is a room where the eye moves naturally from floor to ceiling, finding warmth and texture at every level without the space feeling busy or overdone.
The tray ceiling itself was already a great architectural asset, but the void inside it read flat. By installing horizontal wood slat panels within that recessed section, we gave the ceiling genuine visual weight. The dark stain of the slats contrasts beautifully against the white painted tray and crown moulding, while the chandelier is already well-proportioned for the room and now has a worthy backdrop.
The TV wall treatment extends that same design language to the vertical plane. Rather than a floating TV against plain drywall, the slatted panel creates a defined media zone that feels built-in. The architectural niche to the right of the TV adds further depth, giving the wall a layered, gallery-quality presence.
With the neutral beige walls, warm wood floors, and abundant natural light coming through the oversized sliding glass doors, this living room now has a cohesive design identity that feels elevated without feeling cold.
What Makes This Space Work
Slat Panel Ceiling Inlay Dark-stained horizontal slats set inside the recessed tray add architectural depth and warmth that paint alone can't achieve.
Coordinating TV Feature Wall
Matching slat panels behind the media console create a unified design language between ceiling and wall — making the room feel fully custom.
Natural Light & Outdoor Connection
The large sliding glass doors flood the room with light, connecting the interior to the screened pool area and making the space feel significantly larger.
Warm, Flexible Color Palette
Soft beige walls and warm-tone LVP flooring provide a neutral canvas that lets the wood slat textures do the talking.
Whether you're working with a builder-grade tray ceiling or a plain flat ceiling, slat panels are one of the highest-impact upgrades available in residential interior finish work today. They're warm, tactile, and timeless. They also photograph beautifully for resale or short-term rental listings.
